Reason for leakage fault of rotary joint

As a key connecting component in mechanical equipment for medium transmission between rotating parts and fixed pipelines, rotary joints are widely used in many industrial fields such as lithium batteries, semiconductors, photovoltaics, new energy, machine tools, rubber and plastic, papermaking, chemical engineering, steel, textiles, etc. During the normal operation of the equipment, the rotating joint may sometimes experience leakage, which not only leads to media waste and affects production efficiency, but also may cause safety accidents and serious consequences such as environmental pollution. Therefore, in-depth research on the causes of leakage faults in rotary joints is of great practical significance for ensuring the safe and stable operation of equipment and reducing production costs.

1、 Product quality issues
Some factories have loopholes in the quality inspection process during the production of rotary joints. Not every joint is tested before leaving the factory, and some factories even do not conduct sampling inspections, resulting in uneven quality of products entering the market. For copper shell, aluminum alloy or stainless steel rotary joints, although preliminary judgment can be made by whether there are cracks on the surface, cast iron rotary joints have pores in their appearance, and it is difficult to detect whether there is a leakage hazard without actual testing. These low-quality products are prone to leakage faults during use.
2、 Work environment issues
After purchasing a rotary joint, if it is directly installed on uncleaned old equipment, it will pose a hidden danger to the rotary joint. Impurities and dirt remaining in the equipment may enter the interior of the rotary joint during operation. Due to the precise design of the bearings inside the rotary joint, impurities entering can scratch the bearings. Over time, bearing damage intensifies, ultimately leading to leakage in the rotating joint.
3、 Improper selection and use
When customers purchase rotary joints, if they do not choose based on the specific model of the equipment and the working environment in which the joint is used, and purchase and install them arbitrarily, it will make the rotary joint unable to adapt to the operating requirements of the equipment. In addition, improper selection and use according to the user manual can also easily cause abnormal operation of the rotary joint, leading to leakage faults.
