During the operation of a vertical packaging machine, the rotating joint of the transverse sealing shaft plays a crucial role in achieving medium transmission between the rotating components and the fixed pipeline, directly affecting the sealing performance, operational stability, and service life of the packaging machine. Choosing a suitable rotary joint requires comprehensive consideration of multiple key factors.

1、 Clarify the working condition requirements
Firstly, it is necessary to understand the specific working conditions of the horizontal sealing shaft of the vertical packaging machine. For example, work pressure is an important parameter, and different packaging materials and requirements may correspond to different pressure demands. If the work pressure is high, such as in some scenarios where hard packaging materials need to be sealed, it may be necessary to choose a rotary joint that can withstand high pressure. Generally, the pressure range of industrial grade rotary joints is between 0-30MPa. The appropriate model number should be selected according to the actual pressure to ensure that the rotary joint will not leak or be damaged during operation.
The working temperature is also an important factor that cannot be ignored. During the transverse sealing process, the temperature of the transverse sealing shaft may increase due to frictional heating and other reasons. If the packaging machine needs to work continuously for a long time, the temperature may reach a high level. For high-temperature working conditions, it is necessary to choose high-temperature resistant rotary joints. Some rotary joints can withstand high temperatures up to 300 ℃, and materials such as stainless steel and ceramics can be selected for rotary joints made of high-temperature resistant materials.
The type of medium is equally crucial. The medium transmitted by the rotating joint of the horizontal sealing shaft of the vertical packaging machine is usually thermal oil, steam, or compressed air. If it is transmitting heat transfer oil, the viscosity, corrosiveness and other characteristics of the heat transfer oil should be considered, and a rotary joint with good sealing performance and strong compatibility with the heat transfer oil should be selected; If transmitting steam, due to the high temperature and high pressure characteristics of steam, the rotary joint needs to have good pressure resistance, high temperature resistance, and sealing performance to prevent steam leakage from affecting the packaging effect and causing safety hazards.
2、 Pay attention to key technical parameters
(1) Speed adaptation
The rotational speed of the horizontal sealing shaft of the vertical packaging machine determines the required rotational speed of the rotary joint. The speed of packaging machines of different models varies, generally ranging from tens to hundreds of revolutions per minute. The rated speed of the rotary joint must be greater than the actual working speed of the transverse seal shaft to ensure its stable operation. For example, if the working speed of the transverse seal shaft is 200 revolutions per minute, the rated speed of the selected rotary joint should be at least 250 revolutions per minute, leaving a certain speed margin to avoid increased wear or failure of the rotary joint due to high speed.
(2) Interface size matching
The interface size of the rotary joint must match the size of the connecting pipeline of the horizontal sealing shaft of the vertical packaging machine. Mismatching interface sizes can lead to installation difficulties and even leakage issues. When selecting, it is necessary to accurately measure the inner diameter, outer diameter, and thread specifications of the connecting pipeline to ensure that the interface of the rotary joint is fully compatible with it. Common interface types include threaded connections, flange connections, etc. The appropriate interface type should be selected according to the design requirements of the packaging machine.
(3) Sealing performance
Sealing performance is one of the core performance indicators of rotary joints. Good sealing can effectively prevent medium leakage, ensuring the normal operation of the packaging machine and the safety of the working environment. Rotary joints usually use mechanical seals or packing seals. Mechanical seals have the advantages of good sealing performance and long service life, and are suitable for working conditions with high sealing requirements; Filler seals have relatively lower costs, but their sealing performance and service life are slightly inferior to mechanical seals. When choosing, it is necessary to weigh the pros and cons according to the actual working conditions and prioritize the selection of rotary joints with reliable sealing performance.
