High temperature rotary joint with different media
High temperature rotary joints with different media
What does this rotary joint help you do?
A high temperature rotary joint helps move steam, hot oil, water, air, or other compatible media into or out of rotating rolls, drums, cylinders, or similar machinery. Instead of forcing operators to work around twisting hoses or rigid pipe connections, the joint provides a controlled rotating interface that supports continuous operation. The right configuration can reduce leakage risks, protect nearby components from unnecessary strain, and make maintenance planning more predictable.

Built for demanding heat-transfer applications
High-temperature service is rarely simple. Equipment may start cold, ramp up quickly, run for long shifts, and cool down again before the next cycle. A purpose-selected rotary joint accounts for those realities by matching the seal style, body material, connection type, and mounting arrangement to the media and operating environment.
Common application areas include:
- Heated rolls used in converting, laminating, coating, or embossing lines
- Rotary dryers, calenders, and process drums that require stable heat transfer
- Plastic, rubber, textile, paper, and packaging machinery
- Systems using steam, thermal oil, hot water, or heated process fluids
- Equipment where rotating movement and fixed piping must meet without restricting motion
This makes the product useful for maintenance teams, OEM machine builders, and plant engineers who need a dependable component rather than a temporary workaround.
1.The medium is thermal oil
The temperature of the general heat transfer oil medium is between 220-350 ℃. If ordinary sealing components are applied to heat transfer oil, they are likely to “burn” out after about a week of use. We recommend using SD BQ high-temperature hot oil rotary joint, external cooling system, higher temperature resistance, high-temperature bearing with circulating oil lubrication, and outer pipe insulation design to reduce bearing temperature. It has good universality, easy interchangeability, long life, and high reliability. So when we need to use high-temperature rotary joints to find models, we must choose ones that match the working conditions.
SD Technology has been rooted in the rotary joint industry for 23 years, and our products are exported to more than 30 countries and regions at home and abroad. We have always focused on pursuing quality and thoughtful service. We have compiled over 1000 experiences and tips for selecting and using rotary joints. SD will share more knowledge on the use of rotary joints with you in the future. We also look forward to communicating with you if you encounter any problems during the use of rotary joints.
2. The medium is steam
The general temperature is between 200 ℃ and 355 ℃. We recommend using SD Q-type high-temperature steam rotary joint. The overall structure of this model has changed, and the flat section seal has been changed to a spherical seal. The double rod external support structure of the antimony impregnated sealing ring can withstand high pressure and high speed.

3. The medium is hot water
The general temperature is between 50 ℃ and 180 ℃. In this case, we can use the SD H-type high-temperature water joint. This type of high-temperature water joint adopts a high-temperature resistant seal, with stainless steel and imported graphite as the sealing body, and their main medium is water. However, the temperature resistance of stainless steel and graphite is not afraid of hot water invasion at 100 ℃.
